The two pockets are fine for storage as the Armor will cover this. Any visible pockets will need to be removed

Generally it's an English riding boot that comes to just below the knees... Barring that... A German jack boot I'll get a similar effect

Jack Boots tend to only hit mid calf. In a bind leather slip cover could be used to bring up the boot look.
